After the earthquake in Kumamoto, many buildings were severely damaged (please see pictures in the first report for reference). There are piles of rubbles everywhere, which include nails that are often used in Japanese houses. As a result, volunteers always get injured when they wear ordinary training shoes.
Volunteers’ support is indispensable in cleaning the debris, but we must also take their health and safety into consideration. Therefore, JEN has provided safety shoes for the volunteers.
What’s more, we not only provide safety shoes to JEN volunteers, but also distribute the shoes accordingly to members of other organizations currently working in Kumamoto.
