Educating Caregivers working in orphanages

We would like to share a very happy event for us: the celebration of TaV’s 10th anniversary. This milestone brought together 110 attendees, including benefactors, allies, former beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders who have supported us along the way.

Highlights of the Celebration

1. Reflecting on Our Journey

   • We presented TaV’s history year by year, revisiting challenges but also celebrating key achievements:
     • Forming impactful partnerships with embassies and universities.
     • Establishing and strengthening our Psychology Department.
     • Expansion of Caregivers program
     • Supporting the implementation of the Child Protection Law.
     • Expanding to Chiriquí with a new office equipped to serve all participants.

2. Recognizing Our Benefactors

   • We honored benefactors with special recognitions to acknowledge their crucial role in our success.

3. Panel Discussion: “Path of Change”

   • The event included a panel featuring a mentor, a beneficiary, a psychologist, and a benefactor, discussing:
     • The roles each plays in transforming lives.
     • The collective impact on beneficiaries.
     • Future plans, including increased community work and prevention efforts to reduce the need for institutionalization.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future—expanding our reach, strengthening partnerships, and building sustainable solutions to empower children and families.

We have successfully completed the first phase of the program and just started the second phase, out of a total of five. The final program completion is scheduled for December. Our big news is that we have expanded the program to a new region, Chiriquí. We are now delivering the program both virtually and in person.

Challenges and Solutions:

• Recruitment Resistance: One of the significant challenges was the resistance from various work institutions towards receiving the training. This resistance was mitigated by establishing strong alliances, which helped in overcoming these obstacles.
• Coordination Issues: The administrative management within new shelters posed difficulties in the smooth delivery of training sessions. Persistent coordination efforts eventually resolved these issues, ensuring the successful execution of the program.

MIDES Approval: A significant milestone was achieved as the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) accepted our program as a required training for one of the orphanages in Chiriquí.

In summary, the progress of this program is promising, with several companies beginning to implement it as well. By supporting our participants and caregivers, we are not just enhancing their professional skills but also contributing to the welfare of their families. Through this initiative, we are fostering a community that values and supports caregivers, ultimately leading to a better quality of life for everyone involved.
