Project Report | Mar 29, 2025
Listening, Learning, Leading

By Lucija Rozic | Team member

The Escuela para Cuidadores (Caregivers’ School) program has not yet officially launched for 2025. As in previous years, the full implementation is expected to begin in April or May. However, early activities have already taken place, including an introductory training session for the caregiving team at Fútbol con Corazón (FCC).

As part of our mission to strengthen caregiving practices across sectors, our team provided training to the caregivers at Fútbol con Corazón, a regional NGO that uses soccer as a tool for youth development and social transformation.

This session focused on building emotional and interpersonal skills through the following topics:

  • Emotions and How to Manage Them

  • Psychological First Aid

  • Assertive Communication

  • Conflict Resolution

The training supported FCC’s internal team in enhancing their caregiving approach and aligns with our goal of sharing knowledge and tools across organizations working with children and adolescents.

As for our standard program’s yearly implementation, we are currently preparing for the full 2025 rollout with the following in progress:

  • Surveys in shelters to identify new topics of interest and relevance

  • Development of a new Digital Footprint Module, which will address:

    • Social media as a tool for re-victimization

    • Cell phone addiction

    • Cyberbullying

  • Manual updates to reflect current challenges and best practices

  • A new feedback session with caregivers and shelter directors to foster reflection and shared learning

In addition to shelters, we will expand into two public schools, reaching school-based caregivers and educators in:

  • San Miguelito

  • San Francisco

This step aims to support caregiving practices within formal education environments, where emotional well-being is increasingly crucial.

Stay tuned for our full program implementation launching later this spring, with new tools, partnerships, and learning opportunities for caregivers across sectors.
