Digital Skills & Online Safety 4 Nigerian Children

Dear TechQuest Partner,

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing generosity in providing children with digital literacy education. With your support, the Digital Skills and Safety (DASP) project is creating positive change every day in the lives of public school students and building the foundation for a brighter future. Together with 70 other donors, we raised $6,400 out of $49,800 for this mission.  

Over 120 students received training in the computer literacy program.  The students were given an explanation of computer concepts and basics and the use of Microsoft Word The students were able to start a computer, operate the mouse, keyboard, and open software, save work and shut down computers.

Computer literacy can empower people in all walks of life to seek, evaluate, use and create information effectively to achieve their personal, social, occupational and educational goals”. In the digital age, what computer literacy means is that understanding technologies is not enough. What everyone must also do is learn how to utilize those incredibly diverse and powerful technologies efficiently and effectively to search for, retrieve, organize, analyze, and evaluate information and then use it for specific decision-making and problem-solving ends.

The "Digital Access and Safety Project (DASP)," which primarily targets public and fee-paying schools, aims to raise awareness and knowledge about how to use the internet safely, protect their identities, and deal with bullying and harassment online. Furthermore, it improves the students' levels of practical digital literacy while teaching them how to filter and validate internet content as well as the experiences that technology and the internet expose children to.

We are hoping to raise $43,400 more to upskill and equip a minimum of 500 students. Please consider a little more support. Also, share this with more partners. Thank you so much for your invaluable support!

We would love to appreciate you for your continued generosity to deliver digital literacy education to the young ones. Together with 65 other donors, we raised $6,383 of $49,800 for this mission.  

In July 2022, we trained 20 students in a computer appreciation programme. The students were introduced to basic concepts and fundamentals of computers. The students were able to create tables, rows and columns in MS Word.

Computer proficiency is increasingly essential for relevance in today's computer-driven society.  TechQuest STEM Academy is committed to continuing to empower young adults in this area as shown in the picture. The diverse skills they are acquiring, thanks to YOUR support, are helping to prepare them for a great future. 

Your donations helped these kids to be internet awesome and piqued their interest in cyber security and programming to build viable products. We could not have achieved this without your donation, and we are grateful for this opportunity.

It also introduces the students to how to filter/verify internet content and experiences that technology and the internet expose children to, while also enhancing their practical digital literacy levels.
