Healthcare to Save Mothers and Babies

Tuesday is GivingTuesday - December 3rd!! GlobalGiving will be boosting your donation to Kids for Kids all day long (EST) making every penny you donate go even further to help Children in the villages of North Darfur currently facing starvation. A great day to give!

You will know that we are concentrating very hard on providing emergency help to meet the urgent needs right now in Darfur - food during a famine. Thanks to you all, we have provided 16 villages with essential seed for planting and Kids Kitchen Kits for children under five. With your incredibly kind continued donations, our next step is to provide the same package of help to 24 more villages. We are now getting the details of all beneficiaries with children who are aged five and under - who face the most difficulties during a famine - so that we can provide Kids Kitchen Kits to these families, along with seed for planting for the next harvest. Whilst we are still finalising the details, we can confirm that it will be close to 5,000 children who will benefit across these ten villages.

Please donate for a Kids Kitchen Kit on GivingTuesday - just $50 for an essential Emergency Food Pack for children aged five and under. These packs are full of protein and nutrients that have been greatly lacking in the diets of little ones all year. 

We will restart our sustainable projects as soon as it is safe to do so. We are so grateful to you for your understanding and generosity in such a difficult time for families. The most important donation you can make this holiday season for the Health of Mothers and Babies is for food for children, who are the most vulnerable during a famine. We are providing emergency food in any way we can - through any opportunity that arises. We have just started to supply families in the villages of Lawabid (2005), Sakori (2009), and Wara (2009) with small quantities of meat which they then hang up to dry.  You may be familiar with Beef Jerky and Chicken Jerky.  In Darfur, after the meat has dried, it is then ground to a powder and made into a thin sauce to have with the assida (sorghum) pudding to provide additional protein for the children.  It is a tiny amount, but even this makes a difference to their health. Every chance must be taken during a famine to get extra protein wherever it can be found.

If you can donate towards a Kids Kitchen Kit for food for children this GivingTuesday then GlobalGiving will add on a little bit extra which we will put towards providing additional emergency food items like the jerky. 

Any donation with a value up to $1,800 USD per unique donor per project will receive a boost from GlobalGiving. The more donations that Kids for Kids projects receive, the larger the share of GlobalGiving Bonus Funds go to supporting families in Darfur! So please set a reminder in your calendars for Tuesday, and let all your friends know about this marvellous chance for their donations to go further simply by giving on a specific day!

Since conflict erupted across Sudan in 2023, millions have lost their homes, food is scarce, families are desperately struggling to survive. Famine has been announced.

Many children are surviving on one scant meal a day. Many adults have just one meal every two to three days. Worryingly this is often just a carbohydrate called assida, resulting in serious malnourishment.

Children across Darfur are in desperate need of food containing essential protein, minerals and vitamins. Without these vital nutrients children face stunted growth, bone, teeth, hair and even brain damage.

Thanks to your support, you have helped us find a way to deliver and distribute Emergency Seeds - desperately needed for food and planting - and Kids Kitchen Kits.

These Kids Kitchen Kits, containing vital staples like sorghum and millet, as well as lentils, ground nuts, and cooking oil, have been delivered to six Kids for Kids' villages in North Darfur - and we have just given the go ahead for the provision of more.

A total of just under 4,000 families, all with children 5 and under across 15 villages, will be receiving these ermergency Kids Kitchen Kits to help fight off malnutrition - all thanks to you. 

Despite the war conditions and the difficult security situation, you are helping us make vital changes and opening the doors of hope to a better future for these families. 

We are so grateful for all your support so far but sadly there are many more families suffering from the spectre of famine and diseases.

Please could you donate a little more to our Healthcare projects so we can provide many more urgently needed sacks of Emergency Seed and Kids Kitchen Kits to save the lives of children, mothers and babies in Darfur just as soon as we can.
