It has been nearly two years since conflict erupted in April 2023, creating one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 70% of health facilities in conflict-affected areas like Darfur are either barely operational or completely shut down. This has left millions without access to critical medical care, making everyday survival an immense challenge.
How Your Support is Changing Lives Thanks to your incredible generosity, we now have two dedicated village midwives in our 110 villages, providing essential support to women giving birth at home. For those who seek medical assistance, the journey is treacherous—navigating the journey by foot or by donkey, constantly fearing for their lives. These harsh conditions often lead to delivery complications, miscarriages, and even loss of life. But with your help, we are making a difference.
Reaching More Communities in Urgent Need Our 2024 Achievements Document (attached) details the life-changing aid we’ve provided in recent months. Through our Emergency Appeal, we’ve reached 49 of our 110 communities, delivering an astonishing 11,276 Kids Kitchen Kits—bringing nourishment and hope to thousands of children. Yet, 61 more villages remain in desperate need. We have found ways to deliver medicines and first aid kits, but we urgently need additional funds to reach more villages.
Planning for the Future Right now, our Founder and CEO, Patricia Parker OBE, and Trustee Alastair are in Cairo meeting with our team—Hassan, Hatim, and Yassir—to coordinate the next phase of support for all 110 villages in North Darfur. With your continued backing, we can ensure no village is left behind.
