These past few months have been busy for the Collective for Orphan Care and Education (COCE). In April, the library plans were approved by Busia county officials. In May, we received the Environmental Impact Assessment report, which determined that the project will not have significant negative effects on the environment. This means that we are now able to move forward with the project!
Currently, we are working with our Architect to identify potential contractors and review bids. Once selected, we will begin buying materials for Phase I of construction -- the foundation. While we anticipate that the project is going to be more costly than originally planned, given the high cost of construction materials at this time, we plan to begin construction this fall.
At COCE, we are so thankful for your support; we could not do this work without you. We hope you will continue on this journey with us, as we move toward making the dream of this community library a reality.
