WE'VE BROKEN GROUND! It took some time to procure the materials and equipment but in March 2023, we finally broke ground! Our progress was slowed by rain; however, we finally were able to get started on the foundation in May 2023.
We are here because of you. Your donation to our library project has helped us bring jobs to the local community, here unemployment rates can be as high as 50%, which is helping the families and businesses within and around Sijowa village.
In June, a study abroad group of students from the University of Texas at Arlington will be visiting our library site in Sijowa village and The Collective for Orphan Care and Education (COCE) will be hosting a community event to welcome the students and to bring members of the community to see the progress being made so far.
If weather permits, the foundation will be completed this summer. We are continuing to raise money for the library construction so that we might be able to complete it as quickly as possible. Once the library is finished, we will be able to offer programming like tutoring and provide access to books and digital materials. It's that vision, of providing resources and services to our youth and our community that keep us going.
Thank you for your generosity, your interest in our work, and the part you are playing in making it happen!
