Jambo.
Horray, after a year of turmoil throughout the world we would like to share some good news. Our dining hall continues to grow and construction is moving forward. Though the pandemic slowed our progress we continue to work towards our completion with your help.
We have hit a milestone of being one third of the way to completion. It is currently one room, in which our students gather for delicious meals and socialization, and at other times it is used for classroom space. Our goal is to complete the Dining Facility with two additional classrooms, a library and computer lab and make them available to all the students by next school year. Though March thru May is our rainy season and construction slows, we are gearing up so when the rain subsides and the sun consistently shines we have all of the materials necessary to continue our great progress.
Your continued financial support allows our students to enjoy their meals in a dry and dust free environment. The students laughter and engaging conversations continue to fill our school with joy. Our playing fields are filled with games and competitions and our courtyard with jump ropes and song. It is only ten years ago that we put our first brick down and now we have several buildings and a future Dining Facility on our campus. We are truly blessed to have your support and are overwhelmed with the confidence you have in our “little school”. Your donation does not just help us build a structure, it helps us provide opportunities for local children to grow and learn. It also provides an anchor for the community between the importances of an education and the future opportunities. The sayings “It takes a village to raise a child” is reflective of our goal. It is all due to people like you who have been so generous and continue our worthwhile project known as Ikirwa School Project.
As we progress we will continue to keep you informed of all that has been accomplished through pictures and letters. Please watch our progress and adventures in learning on Instagram@ikirwa.school and on Facebook at Ikirwa School Project.
All the best,
Rose Hogan
