It has been an exciting start to the year. Our first batch of books have been printed and are ready for distribution, thanks to our generous donors. We have started to engaging with local schools, as we prepare to work with a number of schools in around the greater Durban area.
We also attended a wonderful activation even at the Nelson Mandela Youth Centre for educators and learners from South Durban schools. We were treated to a number of inspiring speakers from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Durban Solid Waste Services, a lovely lady who makes her living as a waste picker, uMngeni-uThukela Water, South Durban Area Based Management and we presented our project for the Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization. The goal is to inspire all the schools in the area to start or reactivate environmental clubs and to give them the support that they need. The learners loved it and we gained a groundswell of support. We will be visiting each school to sign them up for our educational program over the next few months.
