In a world of uncertain times, when so many fear that conditions will continue toget worse, there is a need to bring about more strength and stability in people’slives, and more health and vitality to the natural world around us. It is critically important to have, or regain, an understanding of some of the natural laws thateach of us can consciously apply to bring about the greatest chance for wellbeing, not only for ourselves, individually and as a species, but for nature as well.
We are creating awareness that changes the way people think, so that nature and caring for the environment moves higher on the list of life's priorities. We are building character, personal integrity, and a better understanding of the importance of a balanced give and take in every aspect of life, from our relationship with parents, teachers, school to the natural world.
Our First Pilot
We delivered iut first pilot program for teens in a no-fee government school in Steenberg Cape Town. The school serves the immediate community of Steenberg as well as families living in Lavender Hill, Seawinds, Capricorn, Vrygrond and other surrounding areas. The children we teach live in communities that are not unfamiliar with gangsterism, drugs and regular exposure to violence.
The teachers gave the following feedback:
“A healthy ecosystem needs positive interactions and that complaining won’t get the job done.”
“Leaners showed changes in them with regards to helping others, you actually start helping yourself. Also, the world is so connected and we can either impact the world in a positive or negative way by our choices. That by starting with small things that surround you, can make a world of difference. Thus, they received better awareness about how interconnected we are and by destroying the environment in Africa it could totally impact another part of the world.”
With funds raised we have ordered 100, "Helping You Helps Me!" and 100, "Because No One Survives Alone." These books will be used at the start of the new school year and several schools in the Durban South area.
