Advancing education and opportunity through Rugby

Another few months have passed and again, we have seen brilliant progress. The Memphis Inner City Rugby project has continued to go from strength to strength with the support of our amazing donors. We are thankful for all the help that has been provided to us, so that we can continue to support this outstanding project which is seeing real results.

For the players in Memphis, they understand that rugby is more than just a game. It is all about the respect, social inclusion and enjoyment that the sport can bring. Through their involvement in rugby, they avoid being drawn into gang crime and living a dangerous lifestyle. Through this programme they can go on to achieve anything that they set their mind to. 

The kids involved in the scheme have seen all around benefits with 100% college acceptance this year. Many report gaining leadership skills, grit and determination. Thanks to all the supporters of this project, from ex-international players through corporate giants to amazing individuals, ATLAS is delighted to report that two years of funding has been raised in support of our schools work in Memphis. 

Its much more than the game, with academic attainment going through the roof. Diverting these young people from other peer pressures such as drugs and gangs puts their whole lives on a different path. 

And... through the power of the rugby family we have been able to offer even more, with two of the Memphis kids being offered scholarships to the University of California this summer.
