We are so excited to share to all of our generous GlobalGiving donor that a month ago we had the opportunity to bring students of YUM’s Early Childhood Learning Centre (ECLC) to another city and gave their first experience travelling by train.
The students had seen this type of transportation only in books, on television, on cards and through toys, so to see the real thing was very special for them. At 7 am, 35 children and their parents gathered at YUM’s site and went to Cianjur station together by using public transportation. The destination was Sukabumi, a small city in West Java, and it took them 1,5 hours to get there.
During their trip, the students enjoyed the beautiful scenery seen from the window. They saw rice fields, rivers and mountains. They also had an explanation about the train from the machinist and his crews. At the Sukabumi station, the children stayed for 20 minutes, to do a small observation and have their snack time. Then at 10.30 am, they all went into the train and headed back to Cianjur station.
This is was a great experience for the children; we hope that this beautiful memory will stay with them forever. Thank you for your continuous support for this project. Without you, there would not be these types of experiences for them.
