Farm management is important
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative promoting permaculture to young farmers. Permaculture is a new strategy of sustainable farming in which recycling of waste and energy in the farm is fully utilized. This is important in order to ensure food availability in the home at the same time seeing to it that the fertility of the farm is maintained and improved. During this reporting period, we visited a few farms and conducted follow-ups with young farmers. We found out that some of the farms needs cleaning especially with the growing seedlings so that competition with food and nutrient is eliminated. We were able to visit a total of 78 farms in this manner. Your support is badly needed for this important project and hoping that you will continue to do so. Thank you very much.

Launching youth training

permaculture is a winner
Dear Friend, Greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative promoting permaculture to the youth. Permaculture is the most practical approach in order to improve the environment and the lives of young farmers. The practice of mono-crop agriculture is no longer viable and would only lead to losses in the farm and poverty especially for small farmers. This reporting period we are happy to inform you that we are able to tap additional local resources and launch a movement for the youth in 3 municipalities. Our approach is to conduct physical training but following social distancing rules because of the coronavirus pandemic and then to do on-line teaching using social media and popular on-line tools. We are able to start the training with 60 youth and we will be expanding as we go on in the implementation process. We are prioritizing most promising crops such as cacao as the main crop in our permaculture mix. Hoping for your continuing support. Thank you so much.

Developing a demo farm
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative mobilizing the youth to undertake permaculture as a way to promote food security in the villages. We promote permaculture because of its multiple benefits as compared to monocrop agriculture and the use of high energy and hibred varieties which require also high agricultural inputs like commercial chemicals and fertilizers that on the long run would make the soil poorer. This reporting period we focus our support in developing a pilot demonstration farm where the youth can train and be able to learn basic permaculture techniques. The farm is located near our office in Misamis Oriental province and we hope to attract local trainees. Eventually we will develop the site as a learning center for permaculture technologies. Hoping for your continuing support to this initiative.
