Women with cancer need support to optimize physical, social, psychological, and work-related functioning during and after treatment. Our assistance helps them regain control over key aspects of their lives, ensuring independence and productivity. Essential supplies and equipment are required to aid nursing care and assist in the physical rehabilitation of women, particularly those affected by physical disfigurements from the disease or its treatments.
In India, over 70% of cancer patients are diagnosed at advanced stages, leaving them and their families devastated when treatments fail. The lack of palliative care in our healthcare system forces many to endure unrelieved pain and despair.
CanSupport provides free, holistic palliative care to underserved women with cancer. Through this project, the teams will offer symptom management, nursing care, and emotional support resulting in improved quality of life for 2,000 underprivileged women with cancer. The project will be implemented through 40 nurses deployed across CanSupport's 30 home based palliative care units and 8 outpatient clinics in its catchment areas in Northern Indian states of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, UP and Jharkhand.
One of the key aspects of palliative care in women is preserving body image and physical rehabilitation for conditions and disfigurements resulting from cancer or cancer treatments. The project will enable to extend support for about 2,000 underprivileged women with cancer by purchasing nursing supplies, equipment and supplements for their nursing care and physical rehabilitation.
