Bootcamp for CSO Resilience

Our organization was invited to participate in the 4th Bootcamp for CSOs, organized by the Civil Society Resilience Program (RSA) funded by USAID Mexico. This event, held in Mexico City on August 26 and 27, was an intensive, practical, and collaborative learning space that left us with much food for thought and a desire for innovation.
During the bootcamp, topics such as strategic alliances, communication, resource mobilization, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) were addressed. All of this in an environment designed to strengthen the resilience of civil society organizations, especially in a context as dynamic and challenging as the one we are currently experiencing.
Our objective in participating was to learn (and then integrate) practical and applied learnings into our service model, which allow us to continue strengthening ourselves. Both days we also had the opportunity to collaborate with other CSOs referred to the program by USAID Mexico (and allies), which allowed us to learn from different experiences and methodologies, explore different perspectives and, of course, enrich our daily work by learning from models from other organizations that inspire us to reflect and analyze our own intervention, inviting us to innovate and redesign.
We took a lot from this experience and we are ready to apply what we learned to continue building opportunities for the women we serve.

Intention + Action: fruits of the commitment to the institutionalization of CORDEM
As part of the conclusion of the “Planning, Management and Resource Mobilization” program (intermediate level) and the good evaluation of our deliverable, from the Civil Society Resilience Program (RSA), we received great news: the approval of the complementary solution in face-to-face format: Strategic Alliances.With the help of consultants Marco and María (belonging to the Social Impact team), as well as the accompaniment of Elizabeth (from FHI 360), for two days we learned the best practices to promote our linkage methodology, with a 360 vision. Founder, General Management, Programs, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Administration and Finance, we participated in a highly participatory experience where we reflected, questioned and applied new ways of seeing CORDEM, and of connecting with other sectors.

Thank you to the RSA team, our consultants and the liaison for this entire experience for providing us with this solution, recognizing our active participation in the program and, above all, believing in our team and its commitment to continuous improvement, as their support has been crucial in opening new doors for us and continuing to strengthen civil society organizations. We are ready to weave new networks and honor this deep and collaborative learning!

CORDEM x RIISA Scholarship: Degree + Professional Certificate for CORDEM Graduates

For the first time in our history, we have forged a strategic alliance with Fundación RIISA, launching a call for applications aimed at our graduates with the aim of supporting them in obtaining highly important documentation to increase their competitiveness in the world of work and level the gender gap that is still latent in many business sectors. Thanks to a project that results from a co-creation exercise, those graduates who do not yet have these documents will be able to participate in this call for applications, which, with an annual fund of 200 thousand pesos, will be able to cover the procedures for graduation, professional certification, or both processes for those who apply and advance in the call for applications process.
As a context for this ally, we recognize that Fundación RIISA has worked since 2019 with projects that address the challenges in education and conservation in the state of Nuevo León. This collaboration fills us with pride and motivation, as it reinforces our commitment to co-create educational and comprehensive development opportunities for the women who are part of our community, but it also recognizes that the greatest value is generated when different people, companies, organizations and institutions work together seeking a common goal and from our strengths and opportunities.
For CORDEM, it is essential that all of Nuevo León society recognize the still latent challenges to improve educational conditions and opportunities for everyone. This push by the RIISA Foundation marks an opportunity that opens many other conversations for us, reaffirming that our program continues to have a positive impact on the lives of the women we serve and also reminding us that within the problems addressed, we need to apply new visions that respond to the differences that continue to complement, and appear, within the population served.
We deeply thank the RIISA Foundation for its trust and collaboration. Together we will continue to build a better future for all!

Terra Regia Race
On October 6th, the 6th edition of the Terra Regia race was held, which, for the third consecutive year, was for the benefit of CORDEM. For the first time, 100% of the tickets were sold, which meant the attendance of more than 600 people, marking a great success for the event. During the race, we were present cheering on the participants with our cheerleading team and at the awards ceremony, where we received a symbolic check for a donation of $50,000 pesos. These funds will be used to continue promoting the personal, professional and emotional development of the women who are part of our community. We deeply thank the Terra Regia team for their incredible dedication and commitment to our cause. It is an honor to collaborate with companies so committed to philanthropy and social welfare.

25th anniversary 

On July 14th we celebrate and commemorate an important milestone: 25 years ago, CORDEM was approved in the Public Property Registry, marking the first big step in building the organization that we all know and support today. Although it is not our start date of operations (which is December 18, 2000), it is a very significant date symbolically: what began as a hypothesis for the thesis of our founder Yolanda Lozano, became a reality... a project that has brought challenges, learning, fruits and many satisfactions.

To celebrate, we want to share with you an  interview conducted by the Typ and Art team with our founder: Mrs. Yolanda Lozano Montfort. In this interview, she tells us firsthand her story, the origin of CORDEM, her trajectory and what she dreams for our organization in the next 25 years.

Mrs. Yolanda's testimony inspires and motivates us, because hearing firsthand everything she saw and experienced more than 25 years ago to bring this organization into existence today is a true privilege. Today we recognize her resilience, her humanity, her capacity for personal transformation and that of her community.

Thank you, Yolanda, for the compassion and kindness in your heart, which have been the driving force behind more than 270 women fulfilling their dreams after 25 years!

 

Round-Up Results: HEB and Merco 

The round-up carried out in 9 MERCO stores (western area) in favor of CORDEM closed at the end of May, and we are pleased to share the results with you! In this 4-month campaign characterized by a lot of commitment from the store cashiers, as well as the interns and the CORDEM team, a total of $461,110.96 Mexican pesos was raised.

On the other hand, the HEB round-up took place during the months of May and June, and as one of the organizations selected nationwide, we had the participation of more than 80 HEB + Mi Tienda stores throughout the Mexican Republic! Thanks to the generosity of the customers and the effort of the HEB staff, $566,496.54 Mexican pesos were raised as a result of this successful campaign.

We are extremely grateful and excited by the active participation of the entire operating team of both companies. Thanks to your commitment and effort we have achieved these results, which will be used for the comprehensive development of our scholarship recipients, as well as to expand the scope of our Program with new calls for applications. Thank you very much for your social commitment!

 

Club Tigres Alliance 

We are working on an incredible alliance with Club Tigres, which promises to take our cause to new horizons. It all started with the donation of a shirt autographed by the Tigres Femenil team, and has continued to become the beginning of a great collaboration.

This alliance will not only give us a greater reach so that all of Nuevo León knows our mission, but it will also allow us to support other valuable initiatives of the Club. We are convinced that, together, we can make a great difference in our communities, promoting the development and well-being of many women and their families, from sports to education.

To officially kick off this exciting alliance, we were invited to the Semifinal match of the Tigres Femenil club vs. América Femenil, on May 20th at the Estadio Universitario.

We want to thank Club Tigres for opening their doors to us and allowing us to be part of their family. We are very excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring us and the positive impact we will be able to create together.

 

July Bonus Day Results 

We are excited to share that our July Bonus Day 2024 campaign was a huge success, and this would not have been possible without your support!

Thanks to every donation received that day, GlobalGiving replicated up to 40% for our project. It is the sum of actions like these that create great social transformations. We hope you feel proud to be part of our history and the path of women who are dreaming and working for a better future for themselves, their families and society.

 

Bonding Event 

Starting in 2022, we have celebrated the graduating class of each semester at an independent event. This space allows us to spend time together beyond the therapy sessions, and the beginnings and ends of the semester.

On this occasion, we had the opportunity to have a wide participation from the CORDEM team (operational team and board of trustees) to say goodbye to our graduates.

The event was full of emotion: the six graduates shared their experiences at CORDEM, and each of their testimonies filled our hearts with admiration, pride and satisfaction.

Each generation is unique, and without a doubt, these six women, now great professionals, taught us a lot with their growth throughout their careers in the organization.

We also take this opportunity to recognize their hard work and commitment to CORDEM, because in an unprecedented reality, all six received the highest recognition in the institution! The Certificate of Excellence means that each of them managed to meet 100% of their indicators throughout their stay with us: therapies, workshops and academic grades, and it works as a letter of recommendation in their work life, highlighting their high level of commitment and responsibility.

Later, we carried out an activity led by our Communication Leader and CORDEM graduate (Generation 2017), Tere, who gave us a beautiful analogy about how the work we do in the organization is only a part of what drives the scholarship recipients to become empowered women. Using plants as a metaphor, she explained: "We only provide the fertilizer, water them and put them in the sun so they can take root strongly and grow."

In the end, our founder gave us a powerful message, to the graduates, the team and the Board of Trustees: "When you doubt yourselves, remember this: you are part of the generation of CORDEM's 25th anniversary. We love you, and we are very proud of you all."
