Project Report | Dec 30, 2017
Winter clothing + US guides to Darfur refugees

By Doroti Organization Board | Board of DOHS

Between 12:01 am November 28 and about 11pm, December 28, 2017, eighty-seven donors had given us 128 donations, totaling $5,000.  We also had earned $36 bonus money from the donation matching day on December 13.  Much of this was from members responding to the request for donations from the Board or directly online, but a lot of it was from outside the membership and the Darfuri Sudanese community.

We are already discussing distributing clothes and US guides to more new arrivals in Ohio. And, as we suggested on our project page, we are reaching out now to other new and recently-arrived Darfuri refugee households in the US to  provide them with what they need.  You will receive regular updates from us, about every three months, beginning in February.

We are currenty reviewing what it would take to send clothes to one of the camps for Darfuri refigees in eastern Chad.  We will be asking camp residents and leaders what it is they most need, and then go from there.  Two of our Board are considering a trip to that part of Chad later in 2018, and it may be that they will directly supervise the distribution of whatever it is the Board decides to give.  We will notify you when this new project and any other project are posted on the GlobalGiving website (the Chad project, if doable, will be posted probably sometime this winter,).

Thank you again for seeing to it that we reached our goal.  It's especailly important this time, because since we mad our goal, GlobalGiving will now allow us to raise money for as many projects as we like, with no time limit.
