By Chris Rudd | Project Coordinator
The November earthquake in Cianjur left much destruction, including hundreds of lives lost, thousands of homes destroyed, and many thousands of people forced to live in tents and refugee camps. To this day, there are still many living in tents and struggling with daily needs.
Our team has been active on the ground meeting urgent needs of those affected by this disaster. We have distributed blankets, tents, food packs, diapers, formula, hygiene packs, medications, and other needed items.
As we now begin to shift our focus to long-term rebuilding and care, we will be implementing community development efforts. One aspect of this will be providing ceramic water filters for families in need. A family that has a water filter will not have to boil or buy their drinking water, which can be a large financial burden.
We thank you so much for your generosity and kindness in aiding those that have lost so much in this terrible disaster.
Sincerely,
Chris Rudd and the Pelita Indonesia Team
