Hundreds of thousands of families throughout West Japan have been affected by the heavy rains that have pummelled the area for over a week in early July. This has caused extensive flooding and landslides with over 200 deaths and many still missing. Operation Blessing Japan has started working in Mabi, Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture, one of the hardest hit areas, and has launched a "House Cleaning Team".
One of the heavily hit areas was the area of Mabi in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Here, over 4,000 homes and dozens of businesses were flooded, in some cases to the tops of the roof. A major need for the residents who have had to evacuate their homes, will be to help them in the cleanup effort so they can go back home.
Operation Blessing's "House Cleaning Team" will help families remove unusable personal belongs/furniture to take to the dump, and clean out the home of mud and debris, with shovels, and power cleaners.
As people's homes are cleaned out, this will help devastated communities return back to normal. Though there is a long road ahead, Operation Blessing is here to help and make a difference in the lives of many people.
