I am finally back in Ghana after an amazing 6 months traveling around West Africa to meet our partners.
Thank you for your support. I was able to provide 53 nonprofits in West Africa with one-on-one personalized fundraising training on areas such as online fundraising strategies, crafting a local giving strategy, donor cultivation, and navigating the GlobalGiving platform while explaining the organization’s mission to encourage donor support of grassroots and community-led organizations.
Our nonprofits are doing amazing work in these regions. I witnessed first-hand the impact they make with funds raised on GlobalGiving and challenges they face on the ground. Every site visit left me feeling inspired, enlightened and determined to continue my work across this sector.
In addition to site visits, I hosted nine (9) online fundraising workshops for over 292 nonprofits in West Africa. I also planned and facilitated three GlobalGiving partner meetups in three West African countries (Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone) to exchange ideas as well as strengthen partnerships between GlobalGiving and local nonprofits.
Again, I wrote three (3) audience-specific learn articles for nonprofit partners in West Africa. Articles covered topics such as local fundraising strategies in Sierra Leone, philanthropy in Ghana and achieving financial sustainability as a nonprofit in West Africa. In addition, I wrote nine (9) short stories of amazing organizations from GlobalGiving Voices of the crowd series
Also, I collected feedback from GlobalGiving partners to make strategic improvements for online fundraising campaigns and organization-wide partner retention tactics while exploring new cultures and sites and informing GlobalGiving about the cultures and contexts in which our partners work
Last week, I presented my insights to the GlobalGiving team, sharing country sector trends, partner challenges and recommendations on how to better support our partners on West Africa.
