The past four months have been an exciting rollercoaster for the entire team at Sadhguru School. A big thank you to everyone that has made a contribution towards this beautiful journey so far. We have built two additional classroom blocks, built new showers, and completed one volunteer accommodation block. Our nutritious meals are now prepared in an improved kitchen and we have had two new class intakes for the 2018 academic year.
The 12 new open-air showers allow the moonlight and sunshine to flood in. The showers are built in the local style with mud, reeds, sand and cow dung. The walls are coloured using white soil dug from a nearby hillside. The changing room benches are made from old avocado and fig trees that were thinned out from Ndali estate cattle fields. We are focusing on using natural resources, keeping costs and environmental impact to a minimum.
The whole of January 2018 was dedicated to fundraising for Sadhguru School through a stream of Hatha yoga programmes in Kampala and a 4-day retreat at the school. Three Isha Hatha yoga teachers from the UK, Holland and Kenya dedicated long days without pay for over a month, working seven days a week to raise awareness and funds in Uganda about Sadhguru School through Hatha yoga workshops. These workshops and retreat were carefully planned and coordinated by Isha volunteers who worked tirelessly to make all the activities possible.
