Your donations are helping to break the cycle of illiteracy for students like Opal in our community. Opal's mother got pregnant with her older sister at just 12 years old and with her at just 14 years old. She left Opal under the care of the little girl's grandparents at just 8 months old. Opal's grandparents never attended school and are unable to read or write. There is no question that the odds of Opal's educational success are slim at best. However, she is currently enrolled in our Tuesday Elements of Art class in which she is learning essential prereading skills such as letter recognition, phonological recognition, fine motor skills, beginning writing as well as vocabulary building. Your donations help us to continue providing high-quality educational learning activities for disadvantaged students like Opal in our community, so that they may reach their God given potential. Thank you for your partnership!
Best wishes,
Colleen
