Not going to lie. Over the years it has been a constant struggle to keep up our work with the students in our community. Each year we have had to do more with less, as less donations come in, the prices of things increase, and we are blessed with the presence of even more and more students. Sometimes we can focus on the things we lack and get discouraged. But today we want to focus on how far we have come. These photos are from when we first started working with students 8 years ago. Two of the teachers in the photos (Yessenia and Yoselin) are now working with the students full time and Jeferson (who was just 11 years old in the photo) is now a young man and continues to work with the students on Saturdays. We have had so many victories over the years. From watching students improve their behavior, to watching them learn new skills, to knowing that we provide some of our students with a break from difficult situations at home and give them a space to express themselves and know that they are loved. And sometimes we have come to know that the snack we provide after activities was our students’ first “meal” of the day. So while we know it is not easy, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to fight with us!
