How can just $15 a month help break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala? Through our learning center, We Are the Future, we provide free, safe, high quality, hands on, educational activities for 60+ disadvantaged students in rural Guatemala which empower them with the skills they need to succeed, help them adapt to the changing world, improve their social skills, build their self confidence and make learning fun so that they can reach their potential and break the cycle of poverty.
Our students are at risk of not reaching their full potential and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. Many come from broken families, are the first generation in their households to attend school, and when they do attend school they receive low quality education in overcrowded and underfunded schools. This project will help 60 disadvantaged Guatemalan children to break the cycle of poverty by providing them with access to high quality educational activities.
Through our learning center, We Are the Future, we provide 40 students with access to 6 hours of free, safe, fun, high quality after school educational activities per week in the areas of Art, Literacy, History, Geography and Cultural Studies, Science, Math, Practical Life Skills, English and more. In addition, our preschool program is preparing 13 students ages 3 to 6 with the skills they need to excel in primary school.
We believe that where you were born should not determine whether you reach your potential. Unfortunately, we acknowledge that one of the main barriers which prevents disadvantaged Guatemalan children from reaching their potential is a lack of access to high quality education. Through our learning center, We are the Future, we will provide high quality educational activities for 60+ students each year empowering them to reach their potential and break the cycle of poverty.
