This financial year (23-24), WellFound will work in 5 further remotest villages in Sierra Leone.
Meetings were held with the Village Chiefs on 16th and May 17th, 2023, with the objective of building rapport, acknowledging their roles, and seeking support for the project. Community entry meetings were organised, followed by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between WellFound and the communities. These MoUs defined the agreement's scope, outlined community and WellFound actions, and established general provisions.
To empower women, informative sessions were conducted with Market Garden women, explaining project goals and identifying potential executives. Collaboration with village heads enabled the identification of suitable land for vegetable cultivation. These initiatives showcased WellFound's commitment to community engagement and sustainable development, fostering partnerships and shared responsibility.
By nurturing relationships with community leaders, formalising partnerships through MoUs, and involving women in decision-making, WellFound aimed to create an environment supportive of project success. These efforts promoted collaboration, ownership, and long-term impact on the chosen communities.
Thirty-five (35) Women were trained across five (5) villages: Mobona, Mokolloh, Mojanna, Kailahun and Moyibo on leadership skills, effective communication, and monitoring and were empowered to lead and guide other market garden women.
WellFound remains resolute and unwavering in its commitment to continue serving the remote villages of Sierra Leone as we continue our operations.
