Violence is appalling and ongoing in Sudan, and especially in Darfur, as we write. The difference our handpumps are making to families in Darfur right now is incalculable. .
It is heart-breaking that very little is being reported in the media across the world - which is why you may not be aware of the depth of atrocities and the immense hardship it is causing indirectly to every single family in the region.
Unlike us, families in Darfur are not able to turn on a tap for clean, fresh water to drink. They have to walk mile after mile under the hot desert sun to reach the nearest handpump.
Can you imagine being trapped in your own home - a little straw hut - afraid to go out for food, for water? Afraid of being caught in the cross-fire?
But, thanks to you, we have managed to install handpumps in many of our Kids for Kids' Villages so that clean water is close at hand.
Thanks to you, our handpumps mean children don’t have to risk their lives on the daily walk for water.
We are incredibly grateful for all your donations in support of our Water projects. But there are many more villages, communities, children out there who are in desperate need of clean water. We need jerry cans for families - the plastic often cracks in the extreme heat leaving mothers with no means to carry their water home, and families have no money to replace a jerry can. The price of everything has rocketed since the start of the violence in April - every penny is desperately needed for food.
Please will you donate whatever you can to our water projects so that we can help transform the lives of these forgotten children in Darfur?
Water is life. Please donate today. There is no one else helping families in remote villages.
