Project Report | Aug 14, 2017
Spendeneingang

By Johanna Wiest | Projektmanagerin

On 2nd August 2017 we received the donations that have been collected on GlobalGiving for the well project. A total of 8.324,32€ were given by generous donors for building a well in St. Monica Village. The fee of 232,30€ that has been charged for using the fundraising platform GlobalGiving, has already been deducted.

Due to the enormous range that was achieved though the campaign we have achieved great attention for the issue in the media. We received several requests for publications, even regarding other projects of Dentists for Africa, as well as offers to collect more donations for building the well in St. Monica Village, even after the campaign had come to an end. We would like to express our gratitude for this extraordinary dedication of our supporters.

On 8th August 2017 Kenya has elected a new president and the political situation is now tense. As soon as things get back to normal we will transfer the money to the widows. The construction of the well will start in mid-September. We are currently organizing the transport of a water kit with which the quality of the ground water can be tested. A part of the donations will be utilized in order to establish a fund for the maintenance of the well, in order to ensure the sustainability of the project.
