FSWW hosted its 20th Anniversary Toy Drive on December 14, 2024 and what a jolly ole’ time it was. Fueled by our Christmas in July project, FSWW was able to provide a toy wonderland of gifts for over 40 families with 100+ children. Overstuffed gift bags, donated by multiple donors, were filled with the latest toys and gadgets to ensure each child had their own set of gifts. Face-painting with Mrs. Claus transformed each child into a beautiful Christmas ornament for the day as they played games. Hand-painting activities combined with affirmations allowed the families to create frame-worthy artistic pieces.
FSWW community partner, Hope City Church donated a sea of bikes and toys for many of the children to choose from while breakfast, and an overflow of snacks was sponsored by our long-time community partner, Jus Jars. FSWW also received a generous donation from Raising Cane as they provided their signature red gift bags, each stuffed with a $25 dollar gift card and Cool Cane Plush Puppy.
With the support of FSWW’s many volunteers, our clients and their children were able to receive moments of peace and normalcy, offsetting the trauma they are healing from.
FSWW’s quarterly stats are as follows:
During this quarter, FSWW served 173 unduplicated clients with 1300+ hours of services, inclusive of extensive case management services for food, clothing and rental assistance; financial assistance for utilities, phone bills, psychiatric/medication support, car notes, household items, transportation, furniture, and housing assistance; legal advocacy and court accompaniments. Crisis counseling/therapy clients received 641 hours of counseling and 15 support groups with 55 attendees.
FSWW is eternally grateful for the support received through our GlobalGiving partner, as we acknowledge that our organization would not be able to provide the array of services to our domestic violence clients and their families without financial support.
FSWW continues to endeavor to expand our services by acquiring additional funding particularly to address the growing need for emergency housing assistance for domestic violence victims/survivors and their families. FSWW continues to receive an astronomical number of requests for housing, as our clients have escaped abusive situations with no place to go with their children. Due to overcrowded shelters in the Houston-Harris County Metropolitan Area and surrounding counties, we are seeking partnerships with housing developers, builders, housing programs, and other funders to provide our clients with safe housing and a place to build a new life for them and their children.
Due to the confidentiality and safety of our clients, photos are limited.
