Most children who attend public schools in developing countries including Nigeria live in marginalized sector of the society; no access to quality primary education due to tremendous obstacles they face. Extreme poverty limited resources, poor infrastructure and other factors that make quality education out of reach are good examples of these obstacles.
With our goal to Advance Education through Technology, Victoria House Foundation have continuously donated computers and Internet access to public schools all over Nigeria and parts of the developing world. VHF donated five computers to Government Secondary School Wuse Abuja, in Nigeria along with Internet connectivity. Not only is VHF providing ongoing maintenance for sustainability but also pay for the Internet subscription.
The impact our donations made to the program was obvious. The students are more comfortable discussing various topics due to access to the World Wide Web for research purposes, writing papers and projects. The use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, which was part of the application bundle provided with the donated computers, made writing papers easier, better presentation of projects and so on. In addition, the students have shown tremendous progress in their typing skills.
This November 2017, VHF will be donating computers and Internet connectivity to Iroko Community Grammar School Ibadan, and Government Secondary School Sabon Kaduna, in Nigeria.
A big thank you to all our donors for supporting our project in Nigeria. We wouldn’t have done it without you!
