Project Report | Jun 6, 2019
Technology Access to Public Schools

By MacFarlane Okonta | President

Computers for our upcoming project in Nigeria
Computers for our upcoming project in Nigeria

Meeting the specific needs of our projects is the most important goal for us at the Victoria House Foundation (VHF). With effective team work, we put together a plan that will significantly help speed up our various projects making sure the technological peripherals donated to the schools are utilized effectively. Our highly effective projects are producing substantial impact in the quality of lives in many of the students. Recently, in April 2019, a periodic report received from Ikeja Junior Grammar School in Lagos, Nigeria has shown that students have developed basic skills to gather and learn from online information more effectively as a result of access to computers and Internet connectivity.

Even teachers and administrators who are barely computer literate are attracted to the prepackaged, computer-based learning systems that VHF made possible for them to have access to, which enables them to track student progress on basic skills or assign specific tasks to particular students.

Similar reports received from City Gate Academy in Antipolo Philippines shows that since the use of computers donated by VHF, along with visual learning software, students in Nursery and Elementary grades are more motivated to learn, have shown better comprehension of learning, and improved communication skills.

We’re getting ready for our first project this year in Nigeria! Computers are enroute to Lagos, Nigeria. We’ll have a scheduled date for our projects in Kaduna, Lagos and Ibadan has soon as VHF team receives the computers.

VHF’s STEM robotics program will be lunched in the DC Metro area come August 2019! We’re excited about the opportunity to empower those inner city kids whose schools lack the resources for STEM robotics program.

Thank you for your generous donation! Your support means so much, not only to the schools but to the kids you’re helping. Please stay tuned for more information in the near future.
