Project Report | Dec 11, 2017
Computer and Internet Connectivity Donations

By MacFarlane Okonta | Project Leader

The second phase of VHF’s project implementation this year was one filled with excitement and success!

VHF donated computers to The Timheri Primary School in Guyana. Timheri is a small elementary school outside of Georgetown, Guyana. Prior to the donation from VHF, Timheri did not own any computers and the students did not have access to the Internet. Through, VHF’s computer and Internet donation, the students are now able to do their homework and research papers. In addition, the students have limitless learning opportunities that were unavailable to them before. The students and staff of Timheri are able to work more efficiently with the use of the computers and access to Internet Connectivity, connecting and collaborating with their peers and seeking support when necessary. It is obvious that the students now comfortably use computers to write their papers in Microsoft Word and conduct research on various topics. The gap between schools in the coastland and hinterland (rural) schools in Guyana are gradually being bridged.

Thanks to all our donors, and sponsors whose continuous support has made it possible for us to provide technology access to schools in developing countries, and the inner cities. Once again, your donations have allowed us to provide computers and Internet connectivity to public schools in rural Zambia, the Mwanamangala Primary School in Mazabuka, Zambia, and Timheri Primary School in Guyana.

As you know, Advancing Education through Technology is our mission and your support has been invaluable in making this possible. Like many schools in developing countries, the children in Mazabuka live in a marginalized sector of their society; with little access to quality education due to tremendous obstacles they face including extreme poverty, limited resources and poor infrastructure, all factors that make quality education out of reach. VHF believes strongly that all children must have every opportunity to survive and thrive in their learning.

In 2018, VHF has planned additional projects in Nigeria, India, Ghana and Jamaica. In the United States, we will be supporting Alain Locke Elementary School. We are very excited to work with our partners in the implementation of these ongoing projects. Please stay tuned as we keep you abreast of our activities and projects.

Thank you once again for all of your support!
