In March, one of the worst natural disasters in the history of Vanuatu struck - Tropical Cyclone Pam. About 90% about the buildings were affected, and citizens were without running water.
With your support, this fund has been able to help the 4 following organizations respond to the recovery efforts:
ACTIV Association worked with the community to bring a school hosting 340+ kids back to operations. ACTIV also worked with community members to address crop needs focusing not only on getting food to communities, but also creating a long-term approach to regenerating their economies and gardens across the different islands of Vanuatu. “The equation is simple; when you buy local crops you support the local economy in one island while assisting another to recover.“
IsraAid responded by distributing food and supplies and providing psycho-social services to help Vanuatu citizens deal with the trauma.
International Medical Corps mobilized and deployed the Emergency Response Team to respond to both immediate lifesaving needs as well as developing longer term capacity for resiliency in the face of natural disaster.
Global Vision International Charitable Trust has worked with local partners the last 7 years. GVI is working with these partners to address and respond to needs such as rebuilding shelter and providing access to food and safe drinking water.
Thanks to you, Vanuatu can continue to rebuild and thrive after the worst natural disaster to ever hit this island nation.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
