3 Generations has been telling the stories of veterans since 2011. We have produced over a dozen videos as well as two short films: A Different Kind of War in 2013 and Go Debbie in 2018. We believe that every veteran should be celebrated and that their stories are important to record. They put their lives on hold and answered the country’s call when it needed them most. So, while we can, we should make certain to honor all veterans, especially those who fought in World War II.
16 million Americans fought in the Second World War but today, their ranks are dwindling. Most veterans of WWII are now in their 90s or older. The US Department of Veteran Affairs reports that approximately 325,000 remain alive today and that an average of 245 of them die daily.
On the 75 anniversary year of the end of the war, we must honor our WWII veterans while they are still among us. World War II killed more people, destroyed more property, disrupted more lives, and probably had more far-reaching effects than any other war in history. It is important to remember the sacrifices and bravery of the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy and liberated the Nazi concentration camps.
