The Hand to Hand building which houses a free preschool, kid's club, prison ministry, hospital ministry, football club and a scholarship program has a laeky roof. The building, which is 45 years old, was purchased by the founder with her own money 9 years ago. Many repairs have been done, however the only solution is to remove the whole roof and replace it. Water leaks into the classroom and electrical box and the wiring also needs replacing for safety reasons. The roof is an urgent NEED!
This building is 45 years old. The previous owners added many extentions to the original house, which also meant adding to and changing the roof structure. The result is a roof structure that is deterirating and also poorly designed to deal with heavy monsoonal rains. The leaks into the building are occuring in over 20 different places which is in turn causing damage to internal structures and furniture. A leak beside the electrical fuse box is dangerous and the building needs to be rewired.
Designing and replacing the roof will enable us to ensure that water, especially during monsoonal rains, are able to disperse without causing flood. There are patches of mould that are growing due to the ceiling being constantly damp and the new roof will make the building a safer place for our preschool children, kid's club and other ministries too. Whilst the roof is removed it is also the perfect timing to rewire the building as the aged existing wires are dangerous.
The new roof will enable children and adults to engage in activities safely and also preserve our equipment and resources from constant flooding. With new wiring that is both safe and up to government code, we wont need to worry about an accidental fire starting due to poor wiring. The structure of the building is very strong and a new roof will ensure that the centre will be able to continue to provide support for many decades still to come.
