It's in the headlines regularly now--food insecurity is real. Skyrocketing food costs impact local families and cause them to make difficult decisions. Pay the rent or put food on the table? Fill that prescription or feed the family? No one should have to make choices like that.
United Way of Southern Cameron County has partnered with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley and Brownsville Wellness to bring much-needed assistance to our community. Every other Friday morning at dawn we begin unloading the Food Bank's 18-wheeler and distributing generous bags of high-quality food to 1,000 local families. Our bags include protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, and shelf stable items. The most recent distribution had a value of $125 per bag!
Thank you for helping us help hungry families in southern Cameron County.
