After the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station explosion in June 2023, Kidsave’s team went to the city of Kherson to provide humanitarian aid in the form of pumps, boats, generators, medicines, and food. Kidsave and its local community partners worked hard to coordinate our efforts as we helped evacuate families from flooded houses and provided medical supplies, food, warm clothes, and psychological support.
The villages of the Snihurivka district were severely affected by the flooding. About 600 households had no electricity, water, or gas, and flooding made these villages resemble small islands. To help those stranded, Kidsavesecured boats and delivered over 120 tons of drinking water, water pumps, food, medicine, generators, equipment, blankets, bedding, and hygiene supplies.
Families in the affected areas continue to repair their homes, especially as winter is fast approaching. People in villages devastated by the flooding are worried that the rain and stormy conditions will ruin gardens, livestock, and home renovations they just managed to complete. They continue to ask for help with fresh food, firewood, and warm clothes for the winter.
