Keep supporting HT survivors to start a new life

Thanks to your loyal support, we keep building an alternative world for women survivors of human trafficking, the Udaan shelter, which keeps growing everyday.

Currently six women and three of their children shape this family, creating a solid network of trust and support.

Even in some cases we can provide support to women and young girls who have not been trafficked yet, but are in a high risk to become exploited. This is the case of Smita, a young 18 years old girl whose mother was a victim of human trafficking. As we also support children of victims and survivors, Smita was admitted in our Access to School project, making it possible for her to get enroled in a Mumbai school.

However, the environment in Smita's house was horrible, as her stepfather used to beat her, also threatening to force her into prostitution if she did not accept to get married, despite she did not want to. The situation became unbeareble for Smita, until it was finally decided the best for her own safety was to have her admitted in Udaan house project.

Now, Smita sees a much brighter future. She wants to complete her studies and become a social worker, to help other girls undergoing  similar situations. She also cares about her mother, and wills to be able to support her and provide her with a decent life.

And just like her, all the women in the Udaan house work hard everyday, doing their best to leave behind their past lifes of suffering and exploitation, and encouraged by the hope of a better life, in dignity and freedom.

And we are proud to work along with them, helping them to walk this path, and bring rays of light again in their lifes.

Thank you for your help and support!
