We continue to update our care protocols to continue supporting our community!
During this year 2021, we continued to provide one Mobile Medical Units to Hospital that provide medical care to Covid patients. The Mobile Medical Unit continue to support the respiratory triage process to channel hospital medical care in a timely manner.
To continue providing health services and adapting internal medical care processes to continue serving the vulnerable population, but respecting the health measures issued by the local authority due to the current health crisis experienced by the spread of Covid-19, during this period, we have focused our efforts on providing medical care at home, this strategy derives from our assistance program with the greatest impact, such as the Free Medical Care Days and at the same time we have worked our other assistance program To continue providing health services and adapting internal medical care processes to continue serving the vulnerable population, but respecting the health measures issued by the local authority due to the current health crisis experienced by the spread of Covid-19.
During this period, we have focused our efforts on providing medical care at home, this strategy derives from our assistance program with the greatest impact, such as the Free Medical Care Days and at the same time we have worked our other assistance program, Health Support Management.
Health Support Management
In order to improve the quality of life of the population living in highly and very highly marginalized áreas as well as provide comprehensive health services, Un Buen Grupo de Amigos, A.C. delivers orthoses such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches to those who request them for a justified use.
The main objective of this assistance program is to improve the quality of life of the population living in highly and highly marginalized areas, and its development complements the Free Medical Care Days, achieving with both assistance programs to provide comprehensive health services. This program consists in that once the medical evaluation of a patient has been carried out and the patient requires the use of an orthosis, UBGA delivers the orthosis that the patient requires for free.
This program, Health Support Management helps to improve the quality of life of all patients with limited mobility. Isidro N, who requires orthopedic devices due to quadraplegia, has always appreciated having the enormous help he has received, such as the delivery of anti-decubitus cushion, hospital bed mattress and splints, all this support has been possible thanks to the donations received by Un Buen Grupo de Amigos, A.C. through in GlobalGiving, for him it is a great blessing and a lot of help that orthopedic items are delivered to his home.
Before transferring any member of our team to attend to patients whose mobility is null or difficult in their own homes, which are located in highly marginalized communities, we first make sure that our work team has the necessary personal protection equipment and enough tools to provide quality and warm medical services.
When medical protocols allow us to move our medical team and volunteers to vulnerable communities and our Mobile Medical Units have fulfilled their mission within the hospitals where they are currently supporting and as soon as it is safe again, we will go to back to the communities with health services. That is our passion and our motor. As the whole world is changed by this pandemic, we thank you more than ever for your generosity in this time of need.
Unfortunately, in our organization, last April, we suffered the loss of an extraordinary and meaningful person in the development of this assistance program, Liliana Bosas (30 years old), who was the Coordinator of Free Medical Care Days with Volunteers, a project that you have supported so much, she passed away leaving us her legacy of always continuing to work with much love and joy. Rest in peace, dear Lili!
Meanwhile, we will continue to take care of the health of the most vulnerable population, developing new mechanisms to get to where the patient needs it and adapting our protocols to the new reality.
Forever, thank you!
