Training cycle: "Menstrual health and hygiene" II

Hello! We are pleased to present the main results of our project

The training cycle was implemented, which consists of three workshops on sexual and reproductive health and menstruation aimed at primary school girls from 4th to 6th grade, which are carried out simultaneously, separating boys and girls, this to generate an environment of trust, in addition to allowing them to express their doubts and concerns. The topics addressed in the workshops were: I know my body, menstruation part 1 and 2 with a duration of one day each. In the group of children and adolescents, the topics are addressed: I know my body, changes in adolescence, I respect my body and that of others with a duration of two days. For this period, the health and menstrual hygiene training cycle was continued in the primary school of the Canalumtic community, municipality of Chalchihuitan.

A training cycle of 3 workshops was implemented with the group of girls from fourth to sixth grade with the topics: I know my body, changes in adolescence, menstruation and making ecological sanitary pads; and a training cycle of two workshops with children from fourth to sixth grade with the topics: I know my body: adolescence and acceptance and respect for the body. Likewise, a workshop was held to form a girls' committee for the use and safekeeping of a menstrual kit that was delivered for use within the school. In total, six workshops were implemented on the topic of menstrual health and hygiene, with 199 participants attending: of which, 134 were girls and 65 boys.

Main achievements:

134 girls and adolescents have access to adequate information about health management and menstrual hygiene that leads to their well-being and improvement of their quality of life.

134 girls and adolescents have skills to prepare and care for supplies for their menstrual health and hygiene, as well as for the proper management of premenstrual syndrome and other identified challenges.

65 children and adolescents have access to adequate information on sexual and reproductive health, respect for their own body and that of others.

5 training cycles developed and concluded in each school that consist of a series of three workshops per training cycle with girls and adolescents and a training cycle of two workshops with boys and adolescent men in the same schools.

Two workshops were held on the topic “Menstruation” aimed at teachers and education committees, one in the Primary School and the second in the Secondary School of the Canalumtic community in the municipality of Chalchihuitan, this workshop is carried out once the training cycle with girls and boys is concluded, where they are presented with the results of the participatory diagnosis of menstruation and the needs expressed by the girls in the last training workshop for menstruation committees. A total of 19 participants attended: 3 women and 16 men. Everyone stated that the workshop was very useful to them.

Se implementó el ciclo formativo, el cual consta de tres talleres sobre salud sexual y reproductiva y menstruación dirigidas a niñas de primaria de 4º a 6º grado, los cuales, se realizan de manera simultánea, separando niños y niñas, esto para generar un ambiente de confianza, además de que permite que expresen sus dudas e inquietudes. Los temas abordados en los talleres fueron: conozco mi cuerpo, menstruación parte 1 y 2 con una duración de un día cada uno. En el grupo de niños y adolescentes se abordan los temas: conozco mi cuerpo, cambios en la adolescencia, respeto mi cuerpo y el de los demás con una duración de dos días. Para este periodo se dio continuidad con el ciclo formativo de salud e higiene menstrual en la escuela primaria de la comunidad de Canalumtic, municipio de Chalchihuitán. Se implementó un ciclo formativo de 3 talleres con el grupo de niñas de cuarto a sexto grado con los temas: conozco mi cuerpo, cambios en la adolescencia, menstruación y elaboración de toallas sanitarias ecológicas; y un ciclo formativo de dos talleres con los niños de cuarto a sexto grado con los temas: conozco mi cuerpo: la adolescencia y aceptación y respeto del cuerpo. Así mismo, se llevó a cabo el taller de conformación de un comité de niñas para el uso y resguardo de un kit menstrual que fue entregado para uso dentro de la escuela. En total se implementaron seis talleres con el tema de salud e higiene menstrual, hubo una asistencia de 199 participantes: de los cuales, 134 fueron niñas y 65 niños.

Principales Logros:

134 niñas y adolescentes tienen acceso a información adecuada acerca del manejo de la salud e higiene menstrual que conlleva a su bienestar y mejora de su calidad de vida.

134 niñas y adolescentes cuentan con habilidades para la elaboración y cuidado de insumos para su salud e higiene menstrual, así como para el manejo adecuado del síndrome premenstrual y otros retos identificados.

65 niños y adolescentes tienen acceso a información adecuada sobre salud sexual y reproductiva, respeto hacia su propio cuerpo y elde las y los demás.

5 ciclos formativos desarrollados y concluidos en cada escuela que constan de una serie de tres talleres por ciclo formativo con niñas y adolescentes y ciclo formativo de dos talleres con niños y adolescentes varones en las mismas escuelas.

Se llevaron a cabo dos talleres del tema “Menstruación” dirigido a docentes y comités de educación uno en la Escuela Primaria y el segundo en la Escuela Secundaria de la comunidad de Canalumtic en el mpio de Chalchihuitan, este taller se lleva a cabo una vez que se concluye Ciclo formativo con niñas y niños, donde se les presentan resultados del diagnóstico participativo de menstruación y las necesidades expresadas por las niñas en el último taller de formación de comités de menstruación. Asistieron en total 19 participantes: 3 mujeres y 16 hombres. Todos manifestaron que les fue de gran utilidad el taller.
