First stage of the project

 People who live in communities in the Altos Chiapas have a high degree of vulnerability in their health, some of the causes being limited access to health services and insufficient and inadequate information about their health care.

 Sanando Heridas has worked for more than 8 years in these communities offering comprehensive health care and health education. Throughout these years, interventions have been made with girls and boys in their self-care from a collective learning approach, to provide adequate information adapted to their uses and customs to develop skills in each person to exercise their rights, achieving an educational model in health where the community itself is involved.

Thanks to this intervention, we have detected that a priority issue with a gender approach is women's reproductive and sexual health care, requiring intervention from childhood and adolescence.

 The skills that are acquired in childhood prevail throughout life, in addition to having an impact on the family environment, if these skills are acquired at school, studies have documented that the learning and information acquired in the period of childhood, early childhood and school age determine health in adult life, since it is the stage where skills and knowledge about health, nutrition, beliefs and social skills are acquired, to name a few examples. For this reason, it is necessary to focus efforts on the empowerment of girls and adolescents on issues such as sexual and reproductive health, so that they know how their bodies work, the changes that are going to occur, and the implications that these changes have, especially for decision-making. informed about the care of their body and their sexuality.

At this time of the project we are working in the planning stage, the education team is armed with the materials that correspond to the participatory diagnosis with the girls, preparation of descriptive letters on the subject, didactic materials, and others. We are also in scheduling meetings with local authorities and rural schools that will participate in this educational cycle to start educational workshops in January 2023.

 Thank you very much for supporting this project that will reach 500 girls, boys and adolescents, teachers and education committees from 7 rural schools  in 6 locations in the care región.

Primera Etapa del proyecto

Las personas que habitan en comunidades de los Altos Chiapas presentan un alto grado de vulnerabilidad en su salud, siendo algunas de las causas el acceso limitado a servicios de salud y la insuficiente e inadecuada información sobre el cuidado de su salud.

 Sanando Heridas ha trabajado por más de 8 años en estas comunidades ofreciendo atención integral a la salud y educación para la salud. A lo largo de estos años se ha intervenido con niñas y niños en su autocuidado desde un enfoque de aprendizaje colectivo, para proporcionar información adecuada y adaptada a sus usos y costumbres para desarrollar habilidades en cada persona para que ejerza el ejercicio de sus derechos, logrando un modelo educativo en salud en donde se involucra a la propia comunidad.

 Gracias a esta intervención hemos detectado que un tema prioritario con enfoque de género es la atención de la salud reproductiva y sexual de la mujer, siendo necesaria la intervención desde la infancia y adolescencia.

 Las habilidades que se adquieren en la infancia prevalecen toda la vida, además de que tienen también un impacto en el entorno familiar, si estas habilidades son adquiridas en la escuela, diversos estudios han documentado que los aprendizajes y la información adquiridos en el periodo de la primera infancia y edad escolar determinan la salud en la vida adulta, ya que es la etapa donde se adquieren habilidades y conocimientos acerca de la salud, alimentación, creencias y habilidades sociales por señalar algunos ejemplos. Por ello es necesario enfocar los esfuerzos en el empoderamiento de niñas y adolescentes en temas como salud sexual y reproductiva, que conozcan cómo funciona su cuerpo, los cambios que van a ocurrir y las implicaciones que tienen esos cambios, sobre todo para la toma de decisiones informadas respecto al cuidado de su cuerpo y su sexualidad.

 En estos momentos del proyecto nos encontramos trabajando en etapa de planeación, el equipo de educación está armado los materiales que corresponden al diagnóstico participativo con las niñas, elaboración de cartas descriptivas sobre la temática, materiales didácticos, etc.  También estamos en reuniones por calendarización con autoridades de las localidades y de las escuelas rurales que participarán en este ciclo educativo para iniciar con los talleres educativos en enero de 2023.
