Together with youth associations in villages affected by Tropical Storm Trami (Kristine), we will provide much-needed farming inputs and technical assistance so that young farmers can recover from the disaster. We will target 15 villages with total of 3,000 severely affected youths for support.
Young farmers usually have very little assets to help them in their farming activities and the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Trami means loss and long-term recovery for them as replacing their assets will be difficult. There is a dire need to provide much-needed support by means of seeds, fertilizer, small tools and technical support to young farmers.
We will provide immediate and direct support for the recovery of young farmers and to enable them to rise-up and take-on farming activities again in a short term period. We will do this by the provision of direct assistance in terms of seeds, planting materials, fertilizer and farming tools to those in most dire need. We will also provide technical inputs to assist in their recovery.
Young farmers are much-needed for food security of local villages and farmers are getting old. We need to encourage young farmers to continue on with farming and the onslaught of Tropical Storm Trami is discouraging. There is a need to engage the youth so that they will continue on with their farming initiative.
