Transforming Lives through Education Rural Oaxaca

Providing quality education to the students of Ananda Learning Center opens up many possibilities for making lasting change in the region. Every human being brings many potentials to contribute their gifts to the world. Your generous support is helping us have the tools to offer for their continued development.

In addition to the continuous efforts to raise their level of consciousness and knowledge in different areas, throughout these months, we have focused on artistic activities to awaken the creativity of our students in different ways, in the month of February we had the visit our “Juglaria” school, a circus company that through games and songs shared a performance and juggling workshop where the children lived a wonderful experience.

We also offered a ceramics workshop on various pre-Hispanic techniques taught by teacher Adriana Martínez, a highly experienced ceramic master. The experience aroused great interest and provided valuable theoretical and practical learning for everyone. Each student was able to create a piece without utensils in addition to creating an ancestral oven with which they could bake their own pieces.

Something very special that has happened to us this year is that we have joined a network of libraries called Libros Para Pueblos, which works with schools to provide workshops and donate high-quality books; We are happy to be able to start our library with new books and participate in workshops for reading promotion. The children were so motivated that they decided to organize a Book Fair to share their own creations with their parents.

This week our school was selected to participate in a puppet show that promotes reading and gratitude; The children feel very happy about everything that is happening at Ananda and we want to continue offering more activities to continue awakening the love for reading and art, our wish is to be able to continue offering diverse possibilities with which they can discover their abilities and their own worth.
