Students in Bintan, Riau Islands, have been hit hard by the Covid-19 global crisis - school teachers are struggling to stay engaged with their students, and students are struggling to learn online because of barriers to accessing smart phones, IT and the internet.
With your support, The Island Foundation has been able to react to our students' needs and are delivering hard copy home learning packs to our 250 students each week.
The packs prioritise the development of key life skills and support English language learning through experiential and practical activities that are fun and can be done from home using easy to find materials.
Without a home learning intervention, students face low learning and psycho-social development outcomes as school closures drag on throughout the year, with the potential for many students to drop out of the education system altogether to help support their families.
The Island Foundation's home learning program and ongoing parent and community engagement is mitigating the risks posed to children because we believe that every child deserves access to a quality education, no matter the circumstances.
Thank you from all of us for your generous donation that makes our work possible.
