Youth are leaving grade 8, 12, & university; they look for jobs for a year & get shock, when there are none, yet they are out school. They end in drugs or commercial sex to earn cash for food,rent & clothing. It is devastating. KWS solution to train them on entrepreneurship, for 12 weeks, each week one lesson, which they try to use during the week in order to earn a living.
There main problem is the cycle of chronic poverty. The majority of the people in this area live below a dollar per day. The most affected are the youths who studied up to grade 12 level but are unable to to access any form of employment. The girl child end up in early marriages and commercial sex to earn a living leading to early pregnancies where the children born enter the cycle of poverty.
The training of the youths will enable them to get to employment in the agriculture sector. There is a big demand for food security in the country and world at large in line with the SDGs hence the need for skilled farm workers. This project will create awareness on the available opportunities in the agriculture sector where the youths can take advantage of and create income for themselves and their children.
The long term impact is elimination of the cycle of poverty and general improvement of health. The income earned will also promote quality education and better living conditions.
