Updates on our Safe College Campus Program

By ElsaMarie DSilva | Project Coordinator

Read our Monthly newsletter here.

As part of the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives, Safecity implemented a project called Safe Campus Program wherein a series of workshops were conducted at 20 colleges in Mumbai, Pune, and Satara.

As a part of this project, a group of 100 youth ambassadors were identified from each of these colleges and were trained to conduct workshops at their respective colleges. The topics that they were sensitized to included POSH and POSCO, gender discrimination, gender equality and inclusiveness, sexual harassment within their campuses, and methods of addressal and reduction of the same. These youth ambassadors then went onto conduct workshops and activities which included an essay writing competition conducted by Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Nursing department, skits by the students of SIES college explaining POSH at workplace and colleges, and, engagement of the students of Nirmala Niketan, with the local communities to create awareness regarding the same.
