The Chuk Muk Elementary School is the largest school in the district with around 500 students. For many years we have been helping the students with comprehensive organic garden program as well as cooking and nutrition classes. We have also purchased computers, triangle desks, books and sports equipment.
This year the director has asked Aldea Maya to supply a new back pack and shoes to the neediest children. The government is giving every child some basic supplies. However they find if the children do not have a back pack they have no way to get the supplies safely to school during the 7 month rainy season. In addition, the students need more than one pair of shoes. Shoes that are great for school sports help a child to fit into the school sports program.
We were very happy to assist the students to go to elementary school.
