Dearest TLC Supporters,
It has been a crazy last 3 months for us! From the high of having placed 5 babies into their loving homes and welcoming some beautiful new little chrubs into our nest, to the low of not being able to pay our staff full salaries and having our fuel account closed our emotions and stress levels have been all over the place. Not to mention end of year exams!
The financial times in South Africa are exceedingly hard and we along with many SA organisations are feeling the serious effects of this, but the precious and inspiring children in our home never cease to keep us fully aware of why we do what we do. I'm sure it's the same reason you offer your loving support to our cause. We pride ourselves in serving the best interests of each and every child that comes through our doors, however many obsitcals we may encounter. Thank you for being a part of our amazing team of supporters! You are just as valuable as any of our staff, for without your support our work would undoubtedly cease.
In the past weeks our preschool teacher Ellen has completed her sponsored montessori training for 0-3 year olds. Not only has she completed her course but she has passed with flying colours! We couldn't be prouder of her achievements. She joined our home as a young girl of only 13 and holds a very special place in the hearts of all of us at TLC. Now she continues to lay a solid foundation for the 2-4 year olds in our home. See the link below see her in action with her doting 'students'.
As the year moves siftly to it's end, so does the South African school year which runs from January to December. That being the case, many of our TLC family are busy with the end of year exams. Reflecting on this year we can definitely say we have experienced the usualy teenage challenged and school dramas, however the growth that has come out of it is tangible! We have witnessed significant maturity and development in each and every child this year. And eventually everyone seems to have found their "groove" just in time and are knuckling down and getting serious about their studies. A sight that always brings great relief and gratitude to our founding "mother" - Thea Jarvis.
We look on eagerly to see how our flock fair as they complete their exams and prepare for the new year ahead. We want to thank you again for all your support throught this year in offering one of the greatest gifts of all - The gift of an education.
If you ever have any questions, comments or suggestions please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Kind Regards,
Faith Abrahams
