The street is NO place for a child - Kenya

Hello to all of our followers and donators!

We wanted to share this exciting update with you all!  We have been able to purchase one acre of land thanks to all of your generous donations.  We are very excited for this to be becoming a reality for the children living on the streets of Kenya. 

Not only are we planning on building Scotty’s Rescue Centre but we are also planning on making it self sustainable by drilling a well for water that we will then be able to sell to the local community.  We are also planning on having a vegetable garden for fresh vegetables daily as well as cows, goats and chickens, we really want these children to be able to succeed in their life and by giving them the opportunities to grow and learn from natural resources we think we will achieve this goal.

We wanted to let you all know that we will be updating and changing our project to reflect the purchase of the land.  We also have a matching campaign coming up September 14 - 18th of this year, all donations up to and including $50.00 US during this time frame will be matched by 50% by GlobalGiving.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to donate to help get the children off the streets of Nairobi, Kenya.  COVID-19 has restricted us but not stopped us!

Due to the fact that our project is to purchase land for a shelter/rescue centre and we have yet to raise enough funds to be able to do that, I wanted to take this opportunity to show you what we have been doing in Kenya.  

Attached are just a few photo's of our Street Feeding Program.  On this program we cook the food at home and then bring it to the children, women, babies and familes living on the streets.  We have also been lucky enough to be able to purchase sanitary pads, diapers and blankets for 25 women and babies living on the street.  Through donations we have been able to buy a cart/trolley for 8 of the street boys, with this cart they collect garbage and then sort through the garbage and sell the plastics and bottles.  In doing this they have now become self sustainable and are all living in shared houses, they share the money they earn everyday and earn enough to pay their rent and buy food.  

The photo below of Ben and Brian are just 2 out of the 5 street boys we have been able to get off the street, they are now living in a childrens home and have sponsors to go to school.  We find and help these boys when we are doing our street feedings, by doing this we are helping more and more children everyday.
