How should we measure success? On May 29th, the Safer World 2016 Matching Campaign ran out of matching funds for this cycle. That’s one kind of success! Over the past 9 months, you and 497 other generous donors raised over $91,000 to support education, training, and health care in Afghanistan and Pakistan–especially for girls and women. Together with the Safer World Fund matching funds, we delivered resources to ten organizations that nurture better lives for the people of Central Asia.
Here’s another success to celebrate. Over the past 9 years since the birth of the Safer World Fund in September 2008, donors like you responding to the matching funds have contributed more than $1 million to fuel schools, vocational training, and health care in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Those investments help moms and dads, girls and boys look forward to the future with optimism rather than fear.
But as the news reminds us frequently, much more work remains to help the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan. We can help train more teachers, support new training centers to impart job skills, and offer additional medical clinics. Every mom who learns to read and write will make better decisions for her family, and every girl who has the chance to go to school will think differently about her future.
Please talk with your family and friends about the Safer World Fund and the opportunity to make a difference.
