Crisis call for anxiety
Our “Support Mental Health and Wellness in Taiwan” Global Giving project received over 80 donations and raised over US$12,000. We are moved and extremely grateful for this large show of support. This was the first time the Community Services Center has ever run a campaign like this and the results far exceeded our expectations.
As many of you know, the Crisis Line is a service that The Center provides so individuals can call to get immediate emergency telephone support, assistance, and counseling after Center business hours and on weekends. This past month we received twice as many crisis calls as we have ever received in one month. The funds from the campaign have been critical to our ability to respond to such a high volume of calls.
The vast majority of the 34 calls were severe panic attacks, which come with severe cases of anxiety. There is significant evidence that anxiety is on the rise globally, and last month certainly bore witness to that global trend here in Taiwan. When we see this level of need in the community, we want to ensure that the Center will always be here.
Please share our story with others and perhaps they, too, will consider supporting The Center as we continue to carry out our mission to support, engage and inform.
Thank you again for your support and donations to the “Support Mental Health and Wellness in Taiwan” campaign.
