By The GlobalGiving Team | Technology for Education Fund managers
Thank you for your continued support of the Technology for Education Fund!
The Fund continues to support three programs in equal measures: CARE’s programs in India and Egypt, as well as the Mortel Family Charitable Foundation’s work in Haiti, fostering education and learning through technology.
In April, the Intel Education Service Corps (IESC) visited the Mortel Family Charitable Foundation’s schools in St. Marc, Haiti to conduct trainings for students and provide volunteer technical support for the schools’ computer rooms. The students in Haiti are supported by a joint wiki platform with students in Palmyra, PA, on an ongoing basis as well. IESC works closely with NGOs in developing countries to deploy technology solutions based on Intel platforms. IESC works with NGOs to define education technology solutions that meet the NGOs’ needs and prepare specific plans for deployment, training, and long-term sustainability. Volunteer teams spend at least one month preparing for their assignments and two weeks in the field implementing solutions. The IESC team that visited the Mortel Family Charitable Foundation’s schools in St. Marc prepared for its trip via Skype sessions, which allowed the students in Palmyra to learn about the trainings and technical support as well.
Thank you all for your continued support of the Technology for Education Fund on GlobalGiving, and thanks to the Intel community for its support – funds, time, and talent - for your continued support of this worthy cause.
Sincerely,
The GlobalGiving Team
